Our thoughts directly affect the body, the psychotherapist Thiery Jansen is convinced. What are they, such are the quality of our life – this is clearly confirmed by scientific studies conducted on modern medical equipment.
Interview
Thierry Janssen After 11 years of surgical practice, he received the education of a psychotherapist, was interested in alternative medicine. Today works with patients suffering from somatic manifestations of mental illness.
Psychologies: Positive thinking really affects our body?
Tierti Yansen: Yes, and to make sure of this, it is enough to observe what is happening to us when we learn some good news. We rejoice, our body seems to come to life, we feel a surge of energy: joy and enthusiasm really strengthen our body.
And having received bad news, we are upset or stress: tension occurs in the body, clamping, and after some time we feel fatigue, breakdown, we become more vulnerable. Now we already know how exactly a similar effect is carried out – through the brain (see. drawing on the page nearby). The results of examinations conducted for 20-30 years show that an optimistic attitude to life prolongs it and improves our health. Moreover, scientists believe that the so -called positive thoughts and emotions give the human race an evolutionary advantage, as they help to avoid the harmful consequences of stress.
However, the study of Australian scientists* showed that optimists and pessimists with the same form of cancer die equally often ..
T. I.: To date, an undeniable
beneficial effect of positive emotions has been revealed on the condition of patients with a variety of types of diseases, such as myocardial infarction, allergies, asthma, rheumatic diseases. Therefore, in these cases, patients show psychotherapy that accompanies the main treatment. In the case of cancer, as the results of the study showed, the course of psychotherapy did not contribute to the extension of the life of patients. But when we are faced with such a serious disease, we need to think not only about the extension of life, but also about its quality. It is very important that patients can live the time that they are released, with the most possible joy, in the fullness of feelings, with a sense of meaning of being. After all, any patient knows this: hope helps us to feel better and allows us to feel the joy of life from the simplest things.
